FOLDOC is a searchable dictionary of acronyms, jargon, programming languages, tools, architecture, operating systems, networking, theory, conventions, standards, mathematics, telecoms, electronics, institutions, companies, projects, products, history, in fact anything to do with computing.
U.S. Gazetteer
This gazetteer is used to identify places to view with the Tiger Map Server and obtain census data from the 1990 Census Lookup server. You can search for places, counties or MCDs by entering the name and state abbreviation (optional), or 5-digit zip code.
Virtual Tourist World Map

The Virtual Tourist is a map-based directory of all the WWW servers in the world, operating in close association with W3C's Master Web Server Directory. Note: this service does not contain information about countries, states, and regions (i.e. tourist info); this information is contained in City.Net.
Roget's Thesaurus (ARTFL Project)

Search the headwords or full text of Roget's Thesaurus version 1.02 (supplemented: July 1991) released to the public domain by MICRA, Inc. and the Gutenberg Project. Given a valid U.S. postal address, this server attempts to rewrite the address in the proper format along with the ZIP+4 code. Business information sources on the internet: index


• This aims to be a selective guide to some Internet sites which contain business information, with some emphasis on UK sources. It is organised by type of information.
• Size. About 450 resource descriptions
• Update frequency. Check of every page roughly every two months. Updated means that links have been checked, and text changed and/or resources removed/added. Validated means that the links have been checked and that they still work.
• Scope. Listing useful internet resources which contain company, business news, or market information, and also sites which provide significant guides to these types of resource. The list is selective, not exhaustive. It has a particular emphasis on European (and especially UK) resources. Individual company sites not listed (unless they have guides/information about companies etc other than themselves).
• Nature of resource description. Each description gives the name and URL of the site, together with a brief indication as to its content. There are a few keywords added routinely.
• Criteria for selection. Only those resources which seem to have useful content are included. Coverage, currency, reliability etc.
• Audience. Information professionals (which is reflected in the way the site is organised - by categories that information scientists/librarians tend to use). However businesspeople, students etc have also said they find it useful.
