FIRST PRINCIPLES
- The Internet is not self-organizing; Internet users are.
- Solutions based on principles rather than transient technologies succeed.
- Solutions to the problems of organizing, storing and disseminating Internet resources include subjective human analysis of information, not merely objective technological intervention in the form of filters and agents.

Intranets are not for the Unwary . . .
The industry's abuzz with the scoop
on the newly discovered "Intranet."
Microsoft, Netscape, and others all hawk the
wares they claim will make the installation of your Intranet a snap.
But beware, it's not about software or hardware.
It's not even about technology. It's about Communication,
Information Management and effective Operations Analysis.
Although intranets are indeed an effective means to enterprise-wide
information management, the successful project will
require assembling a team with a "can-do" attitude, and a well planned strategy.
- Managing Client-Oriented Technical Projects:
Guidelines & Procedures
Managing client-oriented technical projects is a many-faceted challenge.
Several groups of talented individuals come
together to conceive, design, test, and implement complex
systems which will improve the business of a client without
changing how they do business. That's the plan at any rate.
And that's what account representatives sell to clients.
As a result expectations will be high.
This document is geared to individuals charged with
the responsibility of managing a
technical project to completion.
- Software Agents: Intelligent Access to Dynamic Data
Intelligent agents are software programs
which intervene on the user’s behalf
in the pursuit of valuable information.
Agents communicate with the user via an online
profile defining the user’s information needs.
Agents monitor available data streams and databases,
using algorithms coded in the software, to calculate
viability of the data based on the profile and, significantly,
the inter-activity of the user with the data.
The more the user interacts with the data, the more
the agent learns about the user and is better suited to provide valuable information.
